Crossroads of Fascism

Matthew Teutsch is an Associate Professor of English at Piedmont University. He received his doctorate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He has held teaching positions at Auburn University of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and he was a Fulbright Scholar in American culture and literature at the University of Bergen in Norway. He has published articles and book reviews in various venues including LEAR, MELUS, Mississippi Quarterly, African American Review and Callaloo. His research focus is African American, Southern, and Nineteenth Century American literature. He is the editor of Rediscovering Frank Yerby: Critical Essays (UPM 2020), and his current projects include an editied collection tentatively entitled Jim Crow and the Holocaust in Comics and a project that examines Christopher Priest's run on Black Panther.

Cécile Coquet-Mokoko, a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, holder of the Agrégation in English, and recipient of a PhD in American Civilization focusing on the significance of call-and-response in traditional African American sermons, Cécile Coquet-Mokoko has taught in both the United States (Harvard University and the University of Alabama) and France (Aix-Marseille University and the University of Tours). In December 2017, under the supervision of Hélène Le Dantec-Lowry (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle), she completed her Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) in American Civilization, entitled Empowerment and Agency: African American Studies Beyond Racial Classifications and Gender Relations Alone. Her research focuses on ethnic and racial relations, as well as religion in the United States from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century, drawing on approaches from history, qualitative sociology, and gender studies.
