The Campus Condorcet, City of Humanities and Social Sciences, will be one of Europe's leading centers for research and training in human and social sciences. At the moment when research is becoming more global, where the development of European and international programs is intensifying international competition, where current events bring together the expertise of human and social sciences, the Campus Condorcet will kit out the research in human and social science with efficient equipment, an international visibility, which will give it the means to assure its teachings, to develop its programmes, to value its achievements and thus increase its influence. It will ultimately welcome 18,000 people at two sites, Paris-La Chapelle and Aubervilliers.

The library

21st Century research library, the great documentary equipment is at the heart of the Campus Condorcet project. It will gather collections from some 50 libraries and documentation centers (about 1 million volumes, most of them with an open access). These collections of documents and archives, on all medium, will be enriched by a wide digital offer, and will form the basis of a service offer with a high added value.

  • 2017-2019: execution of works, equipment and removal.
  • End of 2019-beginning of 2020: the Region entrusts the building to the State, which entrusts the maintenance to EPCS Condorcet; installation in the GED

The commitment of the FMSH

The funds of the research library of the Foundation represents a major contribution to the great documentary equipment. The staff of the FMSH library are already accompanying the project by working a part of their working time in the prefiguration team of the GED, in working groups: Archives, Services, Support for the change.

They are also involved in various projects, such as those related to the documentary policy of the future library or its SI-working site. In 2019, a significant proportion of the FMSH staff will work within the GED, the other staff will work in the experimental space devoted to the various digital forms of the scientific document which will open, in a first form, in April 2017 when the Foundation will return at 54, Raspail Boulevard.
