The third session of the BRICS seminar (2018-2019) of the FMSH and the EHESS will welcome Xavier Richet.

Second part. "The 16+1 Format: Chinese presence in fragmented markets on the periphery of Europe"

The 16+1 Format refers to the association between China and 16 countries of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe: Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, which emerged in the early 2010s and has since developed through the development of numerous projects and major investments in several countries of the region. The 16 are made up of countries that have recently joined the European Union (2004, 2007, 2013) and others in the process of accession (Western Balkans). All have in common to be former socialist economies of different varieties.
