Thomas Schmitz

Après avoir passé un examen d'État (Staatsexamen, 1988) en grec et en latin et une maîtrise à la Sorbonne (1989), Thomas Schmitz a obtenu son doctorat en 1993 à l'Université de Bonn (mémoire sur l'accueil de Pindare dans la Renaissance française). Il a été chercheur invité à l'École Normale Supérieure, à Harvard et à Stanford. De 1999 à 2003, il a été professeur ordinaire de grec à l’Université de Francfort ; depuis 2003, il enseigne le grec à l'université de Bonn. Il est l'un des membres fondateurs du Centre de tradition classique de Bonn et membre de l'école doctorale trinationale « European Foundation Myths », organisée par les universités de Florence, Paris-Sorbonne et Bonn.
