This research project takes as its starting point the forthcoming release in Rwanda of over 20,000 genocidal prisoners. After one, two or three decades in detention, what kind of neighbors can these prisoners become for those who will have to welcome them? The neighborhood angle chosen will enable us to approach reconciliation from the everyday practice of Rwandans, and to determine whether it coincides with, subverts or exceeds the expectations formulated by the government in power since the end of the genocide.
