The Foundation appoints the members of its ethics committee

As a consultative body, the Ethics Committee will issue opinions and recommendations on the definition and implementation of an ethical policy that reflects the values and identity of the Foundation.

On June 28, 2021, the FMSH Supervisory board approved the composition and appointment of the 5 members of the Ethics Committee:

President
Thierry JEANTET, Honorary President of the International Forum of SSE Leaders, President of the AG2R la Mondiale Foundation ;

Vice President
Marie-Laure COQUELET, Doctor and professor of private law, professor at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, former vice-chancellor of the universities of Paris ;

Bernard BAERTSCHI, Lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics, Department of Philosophy, University of Geneva ;

Michèle GENDREAU-MASSALOUX, State Counselor, former Rector of the Paris Academy, former spokesperson for the French Presidency ;

Jean-Richard CYTERMANN, Ethics officer of the FMSH, ex officio member.

Areas

As the guardian of the consistency of the Foundation's principles, the Ethics Committee will issue, with complete independence and objectivity, opinions and recommendations on ethical and deontological issues raised by the Foundation's activities and operations.

The committee will primarily operate in 4 areas :

• Identification and prevention of ethical risks in a broad context (tax evasion, lobbying, respect for human rights, health and safety, environmental impacts, confidentiality of personal data, remuneration of executives, etc.) ;
• Preventing conflicts of interest and non-compliance with ethical principles in contractual choices and the acceptance of donations ;
• Assessing ethical breach situations ;
• Monitoring the implementation of actions to prevent risks and conflicts of interest.

The "Ethics and Deontology"

The Ethics Committee completes the "Ethics and Deontology" initiative sought by the FMSH's Supervisory Board to establish a lasting ethical culture. Its creation follows the appointment in April of Jean-Richard CYTERMANN as ethics referent and Patrick JANICOT as mediator.

The implementation of the Ethics Committee is also one of the measures taken in response to the recommendations made by the Cour des Comptes to provide the FMSH with specialized commissions to assist the decision-making bodies on essential subjects. It comes a few months after the creation of a Finance and Remuneration Committee.
