Scientific residency at Maison Suger

Since 1990, Maison Suger has facilitated the shared lives of researchers of all fields and nationalities, invited by the FMSH or other research institutions. Located in the historical centre of Paris, it offers foreign researchers in social sciences and humanities facing an extended stay in Paris a working and living environment that matches their needs.

Application form

Requests for scientific residencies should be sent to the director of Maison Suger by email. They must include:

• the accommodation request form
• a curriculum vitæ
• a detailed research program, possibly accompanied by letters from French and foreign scientific partners
• a list of publications
• an invitation letter

Requests can be made in French or in English.

Hosting decisions are taken by the scientific management of the FMSH given of all the applications. They are based on the adequacy between the proposed research projects and the FMSH lines of action. For the sake of balance between the countries of origin, they also depend on the French institutions that participate in the projects and the disciplines.

Any profit being excluded by the statutes of the FMSH, the operating costs of the Maison Suger must be entirely covered by the participation of the residents. It is on this basis that the prices of the stays are calculated (after deduction of the assumption by the FMSH of approximately 35% of the operating costs).
