Rodrigo Booth

Rodrigo Booth is associate professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Chile. He holds a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in history and a doctorate in architecture and urbanism from the Catholic University of Chile. He has been a visiting professor and researcher at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, Nacional de Rosario (Argentina), Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Strasbourg and EHESS universities. His work is devoted to the study of the intersection between the history of science and technology and the history of architecture, the city and landscape. He is the author of the book "Luis Ladrón de Guevara. Fotografía e industria en Chile "(Santiago, 2012) and is currently preparing a book titled" De la selva araucana a la Suiza chilena.  Una historia cultural del paisaje del sur, siglos XIX y XX ". In this work, he explores the historical construction of the aesthetic ideas of the landscape of Patagonia.

The Project

Scientific and aesthetic exploration of the landscape: narration and visual culture in Araucania and Patagonia through the voyages of Ignacy Domeyko and Pierre Joseph Aimé Pissis (1845-1875).
